Strikes, Spares, and Strategy: A Recap of Our NARPM Bowling Happy Hour

Reading Time: 3 Minutes

Summary: Property management is a "people business," and sometimes the best breakthroughs happen away from the desk. Our recent NARPM Happy Hour at the bowling alley—hosted by Heritage Bank and our dedicated affiliate partners—offered a high-energy environment to trade insights, strengthen professional ties, and enjoy a much-needed "full house" of networking.

Beyond the Monthly Meeting: Networking in the Fast Lane

While our monthly NARPM luncheons are the place for deep-dive education (like Steve Hoff's recent lead-paint compliance session), our happy hour events are where the community truly gels. NARPM booked the private party room for an evening that swapped legal jargon for a bit of friendly competition.

With two lanes rolling and a room full of Portland’s top property management professionals, the evening was a perfect reminder that our "competition" is also our greatest resource.

Powered by Our Partners

An event like this doesn't happen without the support of the vendors who keep our portfolios running. A huge thank you to Heritage Bank for hosting us, along with several of our affiliate partners who ensured the evening was fully stocked with:

  • The "Fuel": A spread of appetizers and drinks that kept the energy high between frames.

  • The "Swag": Plenty of goodies and sponsor-provided gifts that made the "party room" feel like a true celebration of our industry.

The Value of the "Off-Clock" Connection

Why do we step away from the spreadsheets for a night at the bowling alley? Because in 2026’s "soft" market, your professional network is your strongest asset.

  • Peer-to-Peer Intelligence: Some of the best advice on handling local vacancy trends or vendor bottlenecks happens over a shared plate of appetizers.

  • Affiliate Access: Having our bank partners and industry vendors in a relaxed setting allows for candid conversations about financing and new service offerings that don't always fit into a formal meeting.

  • Community Culture: Building rapport with fellow colleagues ensures that when a crisis hits—or when we need a second opinion on a FAIR ordinance nuance—we have a "short list" of friends to call.

The Bottom Line

Whether you were throwing strikes or stuck in the gutter, the evening was a total win for the Portland NARPM chapter. We walked away with more than just full stomachs and sponsor goodies; we left with a tighter, more collaborative network of pros ready to tackle the rest of the quarter.
