MEET THE BUSINESS OWNERS

Chris and his brother AJ are the owners of Uptown Properties. Members of IREM, the RHAGP, and the NWREIA, AJ and Chris are continually staying on top of new legislation and laws that affect their business.

Furthermore AJ and Chris own 29 rental properties along with 1 commercial property. They know what it’s like to own rentals and how to make them profitable. Learn and benefit from professionals in the market who actually operate in the market and own real estate investments.

AJ and Chris are budding developers as well, pioneering the first commercial brewery in Beaverton, Oregon. Uptown Market is a passionate hobby that they both enjoy. Recently, Uptown Market opened up a second location in Lake Oswego as well! Please feel free to give them a call to grab a beer and chat about real estate. That’s one of their favorite activities.

HISTORY

Uptown Properties was established in Portland, OR in 2009, but the Shepard family has been heavily involved in Real Estate and entrepreneurship since the early 70’s. When Jon Shepard exited the military in 1969, he looked at a few different jobs, but soon realized he wanted to work for himself. Real Estate was the perfect fit. He bought his first house in the early 1970s and in a few years he had amassed up to 30 rentals.

Following the advice of their father, AJ and Chris started investing in single family homes just after the fall of the market in 2009 in Portland. After a few small investments they realized that property management was a full time job and quit their other jobs. They “went pro” in 2010 when Chris got his real estate license. AJ followed shortly thereafter acquiring his CCB license along with his property management license.
